An interesting new exchange of views on SIEV X between Jennifer Clarke, Faculty of Law, Australian National University, and Tony Kevin - with thanks to JAS Online Review of Books, published by Curtin University, Issue 30, February 2005 – 22 February 2005 Just in time for forthcoming book discussion events in Darwin (24 February), Launceston (4 March) and Hobart (6 March), an interesting substantive review by Jennifer Clarke of my book A Certain Maritime Incident: the Sinking of SIEV X ( Scribe Books, August 2004) has just gone up a few days ago , in the prestigious JAS On-Line Review of Books February 2005 issue: http://www.api-network.com/cgi-bin/reviews/jrbview.cgi?n=1920769218 The above website link also carries my detailed response to Jennifer Clarke’s review, which is the most substantive and serious critical review to date of my book. Clarke also makes some interesting comparisons between my book, Marg Hutton’s sievx.com website, and David Marr and Marian Wilkinson’s Dark Victory. I would invite all those interested in the SIEV X history to read both essays, which together traverse important issues relating to the history of and the future judicial pursuit of the SIEV X question. I thank Jennifer Clarke for her review which helps to take the public discussion of SIEV X forward. Tony Kevin, Canberra 22 February 2005
